How many rooms are available at The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home?

The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home boasts six private patient rooms. Each room is tastefully decorated with the comforts of home including a patient bed, over the bed table, nightstand, lighting, flat-screen television, and an electric recliner for patient or family use. Each room offers windows to welcome natural light and views of the outdoors. 

There is also a beautiful kitchen, dining room, two living rooms, and a sun porch for patient and family use.

 

Who can stay at The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home?

Patients who are qualified to receive hospice services are eligible to stay at the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home.  This also includes patients currently under hospice care, who can not remain in their own home for end-of-life care, and do not wish to receive care at a hospital or facility.  

Families are able to stay with their loved ones at the Hospice Home.  Each patient room offers a comfortable electric recliner for patient and family use.  Also, the second floor features a family living room with a comfortable seating area, television, games, and puzzles.  

What services are provided at The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home?

At The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home we provide twenty-four-hour compassionate quality, medical, and personal care from a team of nurses and hospice aides.  All patients and families receive a team approach to personalized care which also includes, social services, spiritual care, bereavement, and volunteer services.

At the Hospice Home, delicious homemade meals are lovingly prepared by staff and volunteers for all patients, in accordance with their unique dietary needs.  Special attention is given to patients' special requests. Complimentary coffee, tea, and light snacks are provided for all patients and families.

Wireless internet access, laundry and housekeeping services are also provided. 

 

How is residential care paid at The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home?

Medical insurers such as Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans do cover the medical expenses associated with hospice care services.  

Residential care at the Hospice Home (room & board fees) are paid for by the patient and/or family at a fair rate.  Some private insurers and long term care providers may be able to assist with this. We can help to determine any payment assistance that may be available to you.

 

What time can families visit The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home?

Families are invited to visit their loved ones at any time, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We also a home office and living area on the second floor for family use. 

How are patients referred to The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home?

Families and healthcare providers can inquire about the Hospice Home or refer a patient any time by calling our main office at (781) 341-4145 or submitting an inquiry on our website.

Is the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home handicap accessible?

The Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home provides one-level living for patients, including a handicap accessible bathroom.  The main door offers a handicap ramp for ease of entry.

Bereavement support services are provided to help and support family members and loved ones as they cope with the unique challenges presented by grief and loss.
