Bereavement support services provided by Old Colony Hospice’s team, provide valuable guidance and support to help family members and loved ones cope with the unique challenges presented by grief and loss. Grief is a normal and natural reaction to the death of a loved one. By its very nature, it is a difficult experience filled with confusing and contradictory feelings.
Old Colony Hospice has a Bereavement Support Service Team dedicated to helping you through a time of personal grief. Our social workers also offer pre-bereavement support to the family members of Old Colony Hospice patients to provide supportive interventions before death.
Individual counseling is offered to the family members of Old Colony Hospice patients by a licensed clinical social worker. Short-term counseling sessions can be arranged to discuss feelings and strategies for coping with grief and loss.
Yes, support groups are available to families and loved ones of Old Colony Hospice patients, as well as the local community.

All support groups and individual counseling sessions are offered free of charge.
There are a variety of materials available to you. If your loved one was a patient of Old Colony Hospice, you will also receive a series of mailings. To request materials, please call 781-341-4145 and ask to speak to our bereavement coordinator.
Our bereavement coordinator will make an initial bereavement call or visit and if necessary, will make a referral to an appropriate support service for children.
